God
There is one God who is all powerful, all knowing, and
perfect (Deuteronomy 4:35, 39, John 17:3, 1 Corinthians 8:4). He exists
eternally as three distinct Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew
28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:14).
Man
Man was made in the image of God (Genesis 2:7), free of sin,
with volition. The disobedient, sinful choice of Adam and Eve in the Garden of
Eden yielded God’s wrath (Psalm 7:11, Romans 6:23), physical death (Genesis
2:17), and separation from God. The fall of Adam, and its results, have been
passed down to all of man (and creation) . . . so by nature all are sinners
(Romans 3:23).
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Trinity. He exists
co-eternally with the Father and the Holy Spirit (John 10:30. 14:9). Christ,
with unprecedented and profound love, took on human flesh (Philippians 2: 5-8)
through the miraculous birth of Mary through the power of the Holy Spirit. He
lived a perfect life, giving many teachings about righteousness (what is pleasing
to God), and proved that He is the Messiah. Christ was unjustly arrested,
brutally tortured, and ultimately crucified. His sacrificial death served as a
propitiatory atonement for our sins (Romans 3:24-25, 5:8, 1 John 2:2). He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into Heaven. He is the High Priest and
the one and only Mediator. Through His blood we are redeemed. Salvation is
found by grace only by faith only through Christ only.
Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity. He
dwells (Romans 8:9) within believers, redeeming and sanctifying them. The Holy
Spirit empowers believers for service as witnesses for the Kingdom of God. He
is often referred to as an “it,” but that is incorrect. Throughout Scripture
the Holy Spirit is shown to exhibit the qualities of a Person. It is through
the power of the Holy Spirit that believers are guaranteed eternal life
(Ephesians 1:13-14).
The Holy Bible
All of Scripture is God breathed, and is therefore
infallible and inerrant in its original writings (2 Timothy 3:16). It is God’s
revelation to mankind and is sufficient for every part of the believer’s life
(2 Timothy 3:16). It is the final authority and is fully trustworthy.
